Our Horses
These are pics of our personal horse (they are NOT for sale) As you can see Im an Arabian girl!! Arabians hold a very special place in my heart, as that was one of first horses I ever rode as a child…
Shawnee, Arbian Mare, 27
She’s a 27 year old Polish/crabbet Arabian mare. She has so much spunk it isn’t funny!! I’ll post more about her when we get more pics. We’ve only had her for a few day right now. She came from my friend Amy who runs Reds Farm Animal Rescue. Shawnee was underweight when we got her here….we had the equine dentist ( Greg Vanderwahl) check her out. He found that she had some bad teeth and had to have one pulled and had to file the rest down so she could eat with out pain. We also found out that she wasn’t getting enough nutrition from her hay and may never have the teeth to grind hay the way she should, So we have put her on Kent senior feed complete (12 lbs a day) and Omegatin weight gain (3 lbs) a day. Sounds like a lot of feed but since she can’t really eat her hay and get that nutrition from that, we need to supliment it with all the senior feed. Shawnee is doing well, but still needs to gain a lot of weight…were working on it…and she is starting to look good.
We’ll keep you updated!!
**Wow Shawnee had a great winter, coming into spring with MORE weight than going into winter! She is looking wonderful! Shawnee has become a major part of our family. She is the smartest, most beautiful horse, I’ve ever known. I am absolutley in love with this girl. She will live the rest of her days here with us. **
